Portuguese Digidelta Invests 3.4 Million in Decal 4.0 Factory in Torres Novas

The Portuguese company specializing in the digital printing market intends to triple production in a sustainable way and with high quality. The focus remains on expanding into international markets, which has contributed to Digidelta’s growth over the years.

Digidelta, the Portuguese company specializing in the manufacture of systems for the digital printing markets, is going to invest 3.5 million euros in the current Decal 4.0 factory in Torres Novas. The investment aims to increase the production capacity and efficiency of the plant, including a new adhesive coating line, complete automation of packaging and an automatic warehouse for semi-finished products. The company’s goal is to triple production in a sustainable way and with high quality, in order to meet the needs of customers globally. The Decal 4.0 factory, covering more than 10,000 m², will be operating at 100% capacity in the last quarter of 2024.

“Digidelta is increasing production capacity through significant investments in automation and advanced technology. Today, we already use eco-friendly, solvent-free UV adhesive coating lines, automated warehouses and robotic cutting and packaging systems. These investments not only increase efficiency, but will also guarantee the quality and sustainability of our products,” explains Rui Leitão, CEO of Digidelta.

Digidelta was founded by Rui Leitão, the current CEO, in 1986, has more than 180 employees and exports to more than 60 countries. In 2023, Digidelta recorded a turnover of 41 million euros, marking the best year in its history. For this year, the company expects sustained growth, especially in the Sign Graphics, industrial and textiles business areas, with an accelerated recovery thanks to new models and innovative technologies. The introduction of DTF (direct to film) technology in the textile sector has also innovated the market, and international expansion and the demand for sustainable products have boosted this growth.

In addition to these areas of activity, the company also operates in the visual communication, sing graphics & advertising, textile, label & packaging, leather & footwear, interior decoration and 3D printing segments. Currently, the best-selling products are Decal brand stickers.

“Our ability to innovate and offer high-quality customized solutions has been a key factor in this growth. In addition, international expansion and increased demand for sustainable products have also boosted the business. Later this year, we will be presenting a new brand with a range of bio-based renewable self-adhesive materials that minimize environmental impact, but without compromising usability and final application,” adds Rui Leitão.

Digidelta Business Areas: Decal and Mimaki

Digidelta has two business areas: its own Decal range and its partnership with Mimaki, a Japanese printing solutions equipment company, for which Digidelta is the brand’s exclusive distributor for the Iberian peninsula.

The Decal range, launched in 2009 by Digidelta, is a brand specializing in the development and marketing of self-adhesive materials used in various industries, such as visual communication, decoration and labelling. Decal products stand out for their sustainability and innovation, as they use solvent-free UV adhesives and PVC FREE products. Through Decal, Digidelta has been able to help consolidate the growth of both areas by providing a broader service to customers.

The partnership with Mimaki has also been very positive for Digidelta. As the exclusive representative for the Iberian Peninsula, Digidelta benefits from access to cutting-edge technologies and innovative products, which has strengthened Digidelta’s leadership position. Rui Leitão, Digidelta’s CEO, points out that “the stagnation in the fashion sector has been offset by continued demand in the Activewear and Sportswear segments, with a full recovery and a significant increase in demand expected by 2024”.
